As a parent navigating the B’nai Mitzvah year, you already have a lot on your plate. Between tutoring, date coordination, and party planning, the Mitzvah Project can sometimes feel like just one more item on a long to-do list.
Often, families fall into one of two traps:
- The “Check-the-Box” Trap: Sending a few emails, making a quick donation online, or logging a few required hours without the child really connecting to why it matters.
- The “Parent Manager” Trap: Taking over the project management yourself to make sure it gets done without friction.
- What if there was a third option? What if your child’s project wasn’t just a requirement, but a hands-on opportunity for them to discover their own voice, build real confidence, and learn practical skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives?
Service That Builds Real Life Skills
When students take ownership of something they care about, they’re doing more than just giving back. They’re learning how the world works.
Through guided mentorship, students naturally build and practice essential executive function and leadership skills:
- Financial Literacy & Budgeting: Learning how to manage project costs, set fundraising goals, or handle materials.
- Project Management & Strategic Planning: Turning a big, abstract idea into small, manageable weekly steps.
- Marketing & Persuasive Writing: Writing outreach emails, making phone calls, or creating compelling flyers that get people to care.
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Figuring out what to do when things don’t go according to plan, and adapting with confidence.
These are the exact skills middle schoolers need as they transition into high school and beyond. The Mitzvah project just happens to be the perfect, low-stakes playground to practice them!
Meeting Every Student Where They Are
Every 12- or 13-year-old is different, and no two projects should look the same.
- Got an ambitious idea? We’ll build a roadmap to turn big dreams into reality.
- Want to keep it simple? We can create a lightweight, low-stress project that is easy to execute and deeply meaningful.
- Have a child who is hesitant, neurodivergent, or socially reserved? I specialize in meeting kids right where they are, without pressure, high expectations, or awkwardness.
Whether your child is eager to change the world or dragged to the table kicking and screaming, my goal is simple: take 100% of the friction off your family and make the process painless, structured, and empowering.
How Mitzvah Mentoring Works
I offer a flexible 6-10 session core package, tailored entirely to your family’s schedule and your child’s specific project goals.
We work together step-by-step, from brainstorming an idea they actually care about, to building a plan, to prepping their project story for the Bimah. If a project expands or your student needs a little extra guidance along the way, additional hourly support can be added seamlessly.
You don’t have to nag, manage the timeline, or guess what comes next. I handle the structure so you can simply enjoy this incredible milestone with your child.
